Labor Day

Labor Day Trash Schedule

Due to the Labor Day holiday, Town offices will close at Noon on August 30th. 2024, and reopen at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. In addition, there will be No trash collection on Monday, September 2nd, 2024. All trash in town will be picked up on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. Regular trash and recycling service will resume on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024. If you have any questions about the schedule, contact Titus Trash at 202-437-1785 or town hall at 301-428-8927.

Water Conservation

Kohlhoss Waterline Replacement Project Update

Work will continue on the Kohlhoss waterline project on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, 2024. The Contractor will continue their work connecting the water main to the service lines. This will focus on courts two and three (Kohlhoss Rd Court 17500 to 17534 Kohlhoss Rd Even (Court 2) Kohlhoss Rd Court 17511 to 17545 Kohlhoss  Rd Odd (Court 3)). The Contractor will provide notice and have traffic control on site. This work may cause traffic delays in this area, so please plan accordingly. In addition, when connecting the service lines, the water might be temporarily shut off to complete the connection. The Contractor will notify homeowners before turning off the water. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

August 30, 2024 - Candidate forms available

October 3, 2024 - Close of candidate application 

October 15, 2024 - Final date of registration

October 22, 2024 - Regular absentee applications must be received at Town Hall 

October 23, 2024 - November 5, 2024, 8:00 pm - Emergency absentee ballot must be received at Town Hall

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Poolesville has joined Sustainable Maryland and formed the Sustainable Poolesville Committee.

Established to achieve and maintain Poolesville's Sustainable Maryland certification, the overall mission of the Sustainable Poolesville Committee is to create a cleaner, safer, and healthier community. It promotes awareness of sustainability issues, identifies opportunities for the Town to reduce its environmental impact cost-effectively, and facilitates initiatives to capture these opportunities.  We will accomplish our goals through a collaborative effort with our local government, schools, nonprofit and faith-based organizations, businesses, and residents. Storm Damage

Storm Debris 

As a reminder, debris from recent storms is handled as yard waste. Below are the requirements for handling this type of debris. 

Yard Waste

  • Yard waste includes anything that grows naturally or falls from a tree
  • Placed in either yard waste bags or a re-usable labeled container, not exceeding 45 lbs
  • Branches less than 4 inches in diameter must be bundled in twine; bundles cannot be longer than 4 feet and 30 inches in diameter.
  • No rocks, dirt, mulch, sawdust, sod, root balls, tree stumps or lumber accepted.
