Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator
Conducts routine testing of wastewater as directed, records test results and maintains the plant logbook with accurate and timely entries of activities. Monitors, operates, adjusts and makes minor repairs to wastewater treatment plant equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and chemical feed equipment and keeps records. Monitors all charts, gauges and other operating equipment and maintains calibration of plant instrumentation and on-line analyzers according to the frequency specified by permitting agencies and/or the manufacturer. Calculates chemical feed rates, calibrates chemical equipments and adjusts chemical feed rates as indicated by direction of the Wastewater Superintendent to comply with wastewater effluent quality requirements as established for the plant. Performs routine and special maintenance of all equipment and grounds including stairs, ladders, steps, air diffuses, blowers, and screens.

High school diploma or equivalent and valid MD driver's license required. Ability to posses MD Class 5 Wastewater license. Knowledge of chemical and microbiological processes as applicable to wastewater treatment and the individual should have a basic understanding of wastewater collection systems and lift station operations. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and instrumentation systems is preferable.
