National Capital Velo Club is pleased to be back hosting the 27th Edition of the Poolesville Road Race on April 8, 2023. One of the Mid-Atlantic Bicycle Racing Association's (MABRA) premier local road racing events, the Poolesville Road Race consists of a 10-mile loop on rolling country roads featuring a 1.4-mile section of dirt road each lap. Each race will begin with a neutral rollout from the Poolesville Baptist Church on W. Willard Road with the finish line along Westerly Road. Racers will do between three and six laps, depending on the category. Please see the included map for more detail.
Six races will take place over the course of the day, and for the first time ever, one wave will be dedicated entirely to women’s fields. We will also be hosting the MABRA Women’s Road Category Championship and the MABRA Men’s Masters Championship, so the racing should be exciting! While we cannot avoid impediments to neighbors entirely, we do our absolute best to avoid unnecessary inconveniences. Montgomery County Police, along with members of our club, will be creating rolling enclosures for the racers and patrolling traffic at intersections. USA Cycling officials and moto refs will be on hand to ensure the safety and fairness of the races. The safety of our racers and the community is our highest priority.
We are once again incredibly grateful to the Town of Poolesville for hosting us and we hope to see some of you over the course of the day. This race would not be possible without the gracious support of this community.
