The LED streetlight replacement program has allowed the Town to replace the older streetlights with much more efficient fixtures. So far, the Town has installed 454 of these LED fixtures, including 395 fixtures purchased as part of a grant from the Maryland Energy Administration's Maryland Smart Energy Communities program. These fixtures will save the Town on its energy costs and reduce maintenance costs as they will last much longer than our previous light fixtures. With these fixtures, lighting is much improved, and the "dark sky" compliant fixtures direct light downward allowing us to reduce light pollution.  This program is also part of the Town's commitment to environmental sustainability, as these fixtures help conserve energy by as much as 72%.
