Fair Access

Help Us Secure Funding for Critical Community Projects

As you know, the Fair Access Committee for Western County was established in 2018 to address the lack of equity in county and state investments in programs, services, and facilities in our area. Thanks to your support, we’ve made meaningful progress on several initiatives, including the rebuilding and modernization of our high school and expanded access to essential health care services.

However, our community still falls behind in access to many programs and facilities that other areas enjoy. In the upcoming budget cycle, we believe two priority projects must be funded:

  1. Design and construction of a community center for our area
  2. Purchase, installation, and operation of a pool bubble to convert the Sarah E. Auer Outdoor Pool into a year-round facility

While the community center is included in the county’s six-year construction plan, this does not guarantee funding. Currently, the earliest projected funding is 2029–2030. With tight budgets, we risk further delays unless we secure funding now. This center will also include clinic facilities, improving access to health care for residents who live far from essential services.

Our outdoor pool—the only county facility in our area outside of schools—provides recreation, exercise, rehabilitation, and training for local swim teams. Yet, it remains closed for two-thirds of the year. The Fair Access Committee has developed a cost-effective proposal for a pool bubble that can be implemented quickly, making the pool a year-round resource for families, seniors, and athletes.

We need the Council’s support to make these projects a reality.

Thank you for standing with us to ensure fair access for our community.
