Hydrant Flushing Starts April 14th

The Water Department will be flushing hydrants during April to reduce and remove the accumulation of rust and iron in the water mains. The flushing may cause discolored water from the loose sediment, and we advise residents not to wash white clothes for 24 hours following the flushing. 

April   14:  Elizabeth’s Delight, Tama, Woods of Tama, Brightwell Crosssing

April  16-17: Westerly, Bennett Way, Meadowlark Manor, Westerly Grove, Hunter’s Run

April   21-22: Fisher Avenue, Meadow Valley, Wootton Heights

April   23: Wesmond, Wootton Woods

April   25: Seneca Chase, Sumner Ridge, Stoney Springs

West Willard Sidewalk 

Starting April 14th, 2025, Town contractors will begin a new sidewalk on W Willard Rd near Fisher Avenue. Traffic control will be on site.  However, you may experience delays traveling through this area, so please plan accordingly. This important infrastructure project improves walkability in town and completes the sidewalk system on the west side of West Willard.  If you have any questions about this project, please get in touch with Town Hall at 301-428-8927 or email townhall@poolesvillemd.gov.

Water Conservation

Water Capacity Informational Hearing

The Commissioners of Poolesville will be holding an informational hearing to discuss water capacity.

Hydrologists Kathy Mihm and Pat Hammond along with Montgomery County Alliance’s Executor Director Caroline Taylor, will present and discuss recent water capacity studies.

The studies, derived from historical pump data, aquifer models, and specific scientific calculations, will be discussed along with solutions for ensuring an adequate water supply for the future.

The informational hearing will be held at Town Hall on April 21, 2025, at 7:00 pm. It will also be available on YouTube, both live-streamed and archived for later viewing.

Pick It Up Poolesville 

The Sustainable Poolesville Committee and Poolesville Green partner for our Pick it Up, Poolesville litter initiative.  Come out and help keep Poolesville clean.  We will have bags available.  Please bring your own gloves and trash grabbers if you have them.  SSL hours will be available for students in grades 6 - 12.  Be sure to sign in for SSL forms.  Click on the link below for more information.
