How You Can Help Keep Poolesville Green! 🌱
Did you know there are several easy ways to reduce waste and positively impact our town, all while keeping things out of the Dickerson Incinerator? Here’s how you can do your part:
At the heart of our efforts is the Zero Waste, Zero Worry initiative, which aims to minimize waste in our town and create a cleaner, healthier environment for all. By reducing waste, we can make this vision a reality!
We offer multiple options, including our weekly dual-stream recycling for paper and bottles/cans and yard waste collection. We also host electronics recycling and shredding events, and the Poolesville Thrift Store accepts gently used clothes, shoes, household items, toys, and books. We also have zero-waste drop-off boxes conveniently located around town.
More Specifically:
Donate books, CDs, and DVDs to the Poolesville Thrift Store, local rummage sales, or the Maggie Nightingale Library.
Used Alkaline Batteries: Drop them off in the zero-waste box at Town Hall.
Used Beauty Supplies: Drop them off in the zero-waste box at Sheer Elegance. (Please clean items before dropping them off.)
Old Toothbrushes, Dental Floss Containers, and Toothpaste Tubes can be dropped off in the zero-waste box at Pike and Valega.
Single-Use Blister Packs for Contact Lenses: Drop them off at the zero-waste box at Poolesville Vision.
Paper Shredding: The Big Flea (held in October) is a great opportunity to shred documents.
Old Paint: You can dispose of it (for a small fee) at The Big Flea (held in October).
Small Electronics: You can drop them off at The Big Flea (held in October) or take them to Staples for recycling.
